    Academic Background

    Dr Muir is a paleontologist specializing in Ordovician paleocommunities and paleoecology, with a particular focus on graptolites, sponges, and worms. Her work has involved studying fossil assemblages in Australia, China, Morocco, and the UK. She has worked at the Natural History Museum, London, the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, China, and as a freelance geological consultant. Dr Muir has named more than 10 new species of fossils during her research career.

    Publishing History

    Dr Muir has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, including in Nature Communications, Nature Ecology and Evolution, and Geology.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Dr Muir has been a full-time editor since 2013. She regularly acts as a peer reviewer for scientific journals, such as Journal of Asian Earth Sciences; Journal of Paleontology; Nature; Nature Ecology & Evolution; Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology; and the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology.
